QDSC Status Awarded by Visa to Sword & Shield

March 16th 2006

Knoxville, TN - Mar. 16, 2006 - Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, Inc. (Sword & Shield), a premier provider of information security solutions, announces that it has been recognized by Visa as a Qualified Data Security Company (QDSC). As a certified QDSC, Sword & Shield is one of only a few companies in the Southeastern US authorized to provide assessment and audit services to the Payment Card Industry (PCI). Sword & Shield security assessment services will help ensure merchants and service providers who process, store, or transmit payment card information have effective security controls in place to prevent compromise or exposure of this sensitive data.

Sword & Shield has met the requirements of the Visa QDSC program and staff members have successfully completed the Visa Qualified Data Security Professional (QDSP) training. Visa's USA Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) and Account Information Security (AIS) program, along with MasterCard's Site Data Protection (SDP) endorse the industry recognized PCI Data Security Standard for data security compliance and require the use of a QDSC to conduct annual assessments.

Due to an increase in identity theft and fraud, there is an increasing need for the protection of consumer data. "The Visa PCI data security program is critical to ensuring that not only is cardholder information effectively protected but that a heightened level of consumer confidence is maintained," says John McNeely, Chief Technology Officer with Sword & Shield. "When the PCI data security standards are enforced, they provide an effective layer of protection for cardholder data."

Sword & Shield has a long history of service in assisting companies and institutions in the financial services market. With the QDSC designation, Sword & Shield is even better prepared to provide a comprehensive set of services to address the information security needs of companies and institutions that need to be assured they are in compliance with the Visa CISP standards.
